Relatives of Kurds executed in Iran are denied the remains, and 2 are arrested |

The authorities in Iran have refused to allow the families of five Kurdish activists hanged on Sunday to bury them, and have arrested the sister and mother of the only woman among the executed, one of the activists’ lawyers said Tuesday.
The sister and mother of the woman, Shirin Alamhooee, 28, were arrested at their home in the city of Makoo, in northwestern Iran, said the lawyer, Khalil Bahramian, in a telephone interview from Tehran. He also said the family was not even aware of the execution until Monday afternoon.

Tuesday, 11 May 2010 NCRI - Amnesty International on Tuesday condemned execution of five political prisoners on Sunday saying, they had not received fair trials and that some of them had been tortured. Text of the AI statement follows:
Amnesty International on Tuesday condemned the executions in Iran of four Kurdish political activists and another Iranian man, all convicted of "moharebeh" (enmity against God).

teacher wrongly accused of being a terrorist by the Islamic regime in Tehran. He spent almost four years of physical and mental torture in Iran's prison system. Mr. Kamangar's suffering ceased Sunday at the end of a hangman's noose. He was 34 years old.

Monday, 10 May 2010 Protests against the execution of Farzad Kamangar and 4 other Kurdish activists Tehran, May 10 – The execution of five Kurdish activists over the weekend has touched off protests in Tehran and in Iran’s Kurdistan Province, terrifying local officials of the backlash that has been created, Iran Focus has learnt.
Shirin Alam-Houli, Ali Heydarian, Mahdi Islamian, Farzad Kamangar, and Farhad Vakili were hanged on Sunday in Tehran's notorious Evin Prison, convicted of 'Moharebeh', or 'waging war on God', for membership in opposition Kurdish groups, including PJAK, and acting against State security.

Farzad Kamangar, Ali Heidarian, Farhad Vakili, Shirin Alamhouli and Mehdi Islamian were hanged in the morning on Sunday May 9, 2010. According to reports, Khalil Bahramian, Kamangar’s lawyer said a few minutes after this news was published that ‘he had no information on the execution of these people”.
