Number of execution reaches 29 in less than a month
On Tuesday, May 4, a prisoner was hanged in Dezful, western Iran. He was identified as Rahman R. Another prisoner was also hanged four days earlier in Ardabil, northwest Iran. His details were not revealed. In the past many political prisoners had been executed without being identified or executed as ordinary criminal in a bid to destroy the opponents of the clerical regime. The number of executions announced by the state-run media reaches 29 in less than one month. The clerical regime is trying to intensify the atmosphere of terror and intimidation in the country by increasing the number of executions and carrying out public hangings and flogging.
The Iranian Resistance calls on all international human rights organizations, in particular the UN Secretary General, High Commissioner for Human Rights, Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions to condemn executions and take urgent measures to stop prevailing criminal trend in Iran.
